Rewind
Let's rewind a bit, shall we? Jesse asked if I would do a post about before we were married, just a little history of us. Of course, I loved this idea. So, get ready for a detailed story my friends.
Many of you, (you know, ALL those readers I have) may be wondering why we titled the blog "Just Down The Street". Jesse thought of it actually, probably because we literally grew up just down the street from each other...clever huh? Our families have lived a couple houses away for most of my life, which has allowed us to become very good friends. Jesse is four years older than me so we never really knew each other or hung out. The only interaction we had with each other was at church, but barely even then. The Lanham/Yandow family always sat behind my family, which meant if I wanted to see Jesse I had to discretely turn around for a second. That is exactly what I did. I would secretly turn around and pretend to look for someone or something, just so I could see the cute boy sitting behind me. Smooth, or what? Thanks, thanks. I think it worked... Jesse tells me now, "I always thought you were beautiful. I used to stare at you during church." Well, it looks like we were both a little creepy during those days. Haha. Anywho, Jesse went on his mission, I went to prom with his brother Braden, I played with his sisters, I went to young women activities with his mom, and never really thought anything of him. But then he came home. Uh oh! I had a secret crush by this point. But, guess what? He had a girlfriend. I had a boyfriend. So, nothing would happen right? Wrong! Jesse, being the flirty boy that he was, kept texting me asking to hang out. Even though I was intimidated and nervous, I finally agreed. My friend and I met up with his friends for a night. That's all it took, that's all it took for me to fall for you John. Oh, wait, sorry, I just watched Dear John, I am getting my love stories mixed up. But seriously, one night is all it took for me to fall for Jesse. We hung out everyday for two weeks, until I went to Cancun with my family for a week. When we got back I felt like I could have married him right then. But about two weeks later I had to go to school in Logan. Was I ready to leave him? No, definitely not. I came home every weekend the whole semester, didn't miss one. It was too hard for us to go weeks without seeing each other. Thankfully my parents liked Jesse enough to pay for gas for my four hour drive every five days. After a hard five months, I came home! A week later Jesse proposed:) Planning, loving, frustration, long, blah, blah, la ti da, three months later we were married. The end. Moral of the story, while dating Jesse, I had some of the best times I have ever had. We were so happy and twitter-pated all the time. It was, and still is, the best feeling!
