Pioneer Day

I don't even remember celebrating Pioneer Day... I kind of forgot it was a holiday until this year. One, because our friend has a big BBQ every 24th of July that we were invited to. And two, because I am reading a book about the pioneers. This book is about the Willie and Martin Handcart companies. I am only about 200 pages in, but it is incredible. I haven't even read about the hardest parts yet, and am still amazed at what they had to do. It's books like these that make me think I have it easy. I remember in high school, in the winter time, when I had to walk from the parking lot to the front doors in the snow, I would always think, "I can do this. The pioneers did this for months!" Haha. Embarrassing, I know. I told my family that once and they made fun of me. Oh well, that is how I felt. I think God knew I wouldn't be able to do what the pioneers did, so he waited to bring me to earth a few years later. :) Anyway, back to the pioneers. After family dinner on Sunday, my parents told us stories about pioneers in our family. They told neat stories, that I had never heard, about our great ancestors. I am grateful for those family members that worked so hard to be a part of the church.

Monday afternoon Jesse and I went to The Gateway to the Apple store to get him a new iPhone. First of all, I love that store. But it is so bad for me to be in there because all I want to do is buy new things for all my electronics. Second of all, never go to the Apple store on a Utah holiday. It was so busy! We then got ourselves some smoothies and headed to Cade's house. Like I said, Cade invited us to his family barbecue and pool party. I thought it was just a small get together with people I already knew... boy, was I wrong! There were at least ninety people there! It was crazy. There was so much delicious food, children swimming in the pool, everyone talking and laughing, a fire dancer performance, and fire works. Jesse and I love spending time with Cade and his other friends because there is never a dull moment. So, you can imagine how fun this night was. Thanks to Cade, his parents, and family for inviting us and making us feel welcome!

We were going to go swimming but then it started pouring rain!

Happy 24th of July!
