Oh, School.

Would everyone like to know how my classes at school are going? Let me give you the inside scoop. Don't judge me for being a little mean...

1. Apparently I have been sheltered my whole life. I am finding out that I am a innocent, naive little girl. My english class this semester is very open; as in open about the things we talk about. My teacher tells us personal stories and encourages us to do the same. So, obviously, there are multiple students in the class that don't mind sharing their stories and experiences. Usually, during each class period, the teacher has us get in groups and talk about personal stories and worldly issues that we could write our papers on. Do you want to know how this usually goes? I sit and listen to my group members in awe. They tell me about their divorces, their dating life, being date raped, cheating on their spouse, and how they weren't ready to go to the temple but did anyway. WHAT?! Why are you telling me these things? I don't want to know that much about your lives, thanks though. I mean, good for them for being open about it, but I am a child and didn't know that half of these things actually went on in the world. Other students have informed me about insurance fraud, lying to cops, European women open the door without tops on, pretending to be 21 to buy alcohol, and how Utah is too sheltered that it has turned everyone against it. Haha.. bless my poor heart. I just think that everyone is better than they really are and that bad things don't actually happen. Along with learning to write papers, this english class is sure opening my eyes to new things. Not things I will participate in or actually believe, but I guess it's good stuff to know. (In what way? I don't know).

2. Spanish class is wonderful. I am enjoying learning a new language. But, I found out today that some people aren't taking it as serious as I am. During the middle of my teachers lecture on conjugating verbs, a kid raises his hand and ask's, "How do you say pencil in Spanish?" Excuse me? You interrupted the teacher for that? Then, the teacher was having us repeat classes in Spanish (biologia, arte, matematicas, etc:)) and the same kid asked, "How do you say cheese?" "Queso." "Clase de queso!" No. No, sorry, there is no class about cheese. Really? We are in college, my dear, please act like it. .... Was that too harsh? I bet I am going to find out that he has a learning disability or turrets or something and then I am going to feel really bad.

3. Psychology is great. It's probably my favorite subject. I am especially enjoying the first few chapters about infancy. Is it bad that I crave having a baby? Haha. Yes, crave. Learning about how a baby is formed, their sleep habits, what they need to eat, how their brain develops, and how to be a good mom  is making my problem worse. You always want what you can't have, right? Well, besides this class wanting me to be a mother, (and/or a psychologist) I have learned that people like to share stories and ask dumb questions just like in my other classes. "There is no such thing as a dumb question." Some students in my class prove this statement wrong every day. Okay, it's just a little bit annoying when a student asks a question about something the teacher has gone over one hundred times. It's also just entertaining and funny when people tell personal stories about how "I delivered a ten pound baby." "I am left handed but my kid isn't" "My grandma has that disease." Haha...

Oh, the joys of Utah Valley University. I love it. Keeps me entertained. Despite what you may think, I really am not this mean and judgmental. All these things just decided to happen on the same day and overload me with crazies. And, I am learning the actual course material as well. Not just that cheese = queso and date rape does happen.

The end.

Back to studying with the husband.

Um....is your english class an english class or a counseling session? Seriously you can share things but there is always the filter of the right time right place thing that sometimes I think people forget...and the whole cheating on the spouse thing, it's good I was not in there because no joke I probably would have junk punched the guy or pulled the girl's hair...just saying.. :-) I hope that wasn't too harsh ha ha. Oh the adventures.!

Alysha, I know how you felt listening to all that stuff. I was a naive 19 yr. old when I arrived in Morocco. I had a rude awakening with all the military men. Not quite like yours but I could understand your situation very well. Aren't you happy that you have figured out that being obedient to the commandments provides protection for you?
