My First Surgery

September 29, 2011 my gallbladder was removed. I was poked with a few needles, given anesthesia and the next thing you know, I'm back in the hospital room complaining of "period cramps", as I called the stomach pain. My mom was there with me the whole time and took such good care of me. Because she is a nurse and works with patients like me all the time, she knew exactly what to do. She lowered my bed when I wanted to sleep, she helped me put my pants on, she walked me to the bathroom, and she sat in an uncomfortable chair for hours just waiting for me to feel well enough to go home. She is the sweetest.  I spent the weekend at my mom's house so she could baby sit me while Jesse was at school and work. I had my own little slave for a few days who filled my ice pack, brought me water bottles, and made me meals.

Thank you to friends and family who sent sweet messages before and after surgery saying you were praying for me and wishing me well. I felt so loved. Taylor and Mitch were so sweet and brought me a little basket of my favorite treats with a cute note. My cousin Jenny brought me a smoothie and visited and chatted about girl things for a while and I loved it! My friends came and visited me and talked about my dear best friend Brooke getting engaged! How exciting, huh? Everyone was super nice to me! So, thank you.

Jesse has been especially sweet these past couple days. Friday night I was super sick from my pain pills. Even though I couldn't walk or sit up and was throwing up, I wanted to take a shower. So, Jesse being the best husband ever, showered me. It sounds slightly gross and weird, but it was so sweet of him. He showered me and helped me get dressed. Then, since Chris and Treg were over to watch a movie, Treg brushed my hair for me. It was a terrible night of being sick, but everyone around me was extremely helpful, which was nice.

Anyway, I am doing good. I am up walking around more, which is nice. My stomach is just extremely sore. I never realized how often we use our stomach muscles until it hurt every time I used them. Haha. I am looking forward to a fast recovery so I can laugh, cough, and get out of bed without pain.

Thank you for the hospitality this week, mommy! (and everyone else who contributed)

I don't work until Saturday, so I have the week to just go to school and rest. It'll be nice. Hooray for no gallbladder!

 Ready to go!
