Lysha Graduation Day

Guess what?! I GRADUATED NURSING SCHOOL!! What the what?! I literally have been talking about this day for-ev-er! I cannot believe that I am a college graduate… Like, I never have to go to school ever again if I don't want to. How amazing is that? But, that also means that I have to get a job and be a real adult… scary.

Over the 18 months, we took a test about every two weeks. To pass, we had to get a 90% on each test. If you didn't get a 90%, you had one more chance to take the test, known as remediation. If you didn't pass that, you had to retake the whole class! Talk about a high bar?! When school started I made the goal to never remediate a test. And guess what? I completed that goal! I got at least a 90% on a every test in nursing school. I feel pretty proud of that! I am happy to have a transcript that will say 4.0 GPA. Hooray!

My program is set up a little different and even though we graduated, we had to go back to class for two weeks for test prep. We are done with class now and have five weeks off until we have to take a comprehensive online final on July 28th that we have to pass in order to actually get our diploma. Once I pass that (which I will, right guys?!), I will officially be done with school!! As soon as that test is over,  I will schedule to take the state boards (NCLEX). And THHHENNNN once I pass that test (which I will, right guys?!), I will be an official nurse!!

That seems like a whole lot, huh? I sure have a lot of studying to do from now until the end of July. I am praying everything goes well.

 Graduation practice… loving' it, obviously.

Our pinning ceremony was on June 6th at the Thanksgiving Point Barn. My mother made a delicious meal for my family and Jesse's family before hand, which was super sweet. We had a couple people speak, then we received our nursing pins and my mom got to pin mine on me which was so cool, and then we had our candles lit by one of our teachers and then we recited the nurses oath. I might have cried a little bit when one of our students spoke and talked about the special things about our class and each individual. I have been so lucky to be on this journey with such amazing people who have become like family (figuratively and literally… ) My cute grandparents, parents, husband, and in-laws came to support. I am lucky!

How could I not love that woman?!
 My own lamp!
 Such an awesome moment!
 Reciting the nurse's oath
Jenner, Miranda, Brittany, and Kempton… meet my best friends. And the four people who saved my life during this program. I sure hope our group text continues even though we won't see each other every day!

We graduated on June 7th at Capitol Theater! It was surprisinglly short, which was so great. It was so fun getting to walk with all my besties! My family and Miranda's family went to The Cheesecake Factory after and had a delightful lunch!

Oh how I'll miss you, Kempton!
Thanks for the rolled up piece of paper, Roseman! Can't wait for my actual diploma :)
Classmate, study group member, friend, sister-in-law, mother of my nephew… amazing how God puts people in our lives for a reason. I love you, Mir! Thanks for being my best friend and for getting me through nursing school! We did it! :)
So happy some of Jesse's family could come!
Remember how I have the best parents a girl could ask for? I do! They have supported Jesse and I soooo much. I am so grateful for them.
Lovin' these nummm nummms!
Jesse has been such an amazing husband throughout this journey. He helped me study when I needed it, gave me blessings, prayed for me, made me lunches, let me go to bed at 8:30 :), and has always encouraged me to do my best.
My cute mom gave me and Miranda one of these goodie-filled baskets!
Treats, money, t-shrit, a dress, thank you cards, and a book? How cute is she?! Plus, sweet Jesse got me new perfume! Yay!
 So great, huh?!

Even though I am not officially done, it was still a great graduation day! I can't believe I have a bachelors of science in nursing degree! Feeling pretty happy about that.

Congratulations on graduating! That is so awesome you're a nurse... I'm just a little bit jealous (I tried to go for nursing at BYU and didn't get in). Good luck on your final and the NCLEX! You will do awesome!
