Senior Practicum Clinical
The part of school I have most been looking forward to was my senior clinical where I got to choose which department I wanted to be in for four weeks. I was placed at LDS Hospital Labor and Delivery. I had previously done clinicals here and loved it, so I was extremely excited.
I worked with two nurses over the four weeks and was soooo lucky to learn from them. They were truly amazing and taught me so much. I had so many amazing experiences over the 144 hours I was there. I helped with so many c-sections, watched twins be delivered, saw so many natural births, helped with babies codes, and did tons of procedures (IV's, foley catheters, surgical counts, charting, baby shots, etc.). I finally felt like a real nurse because I was able to be so independent and have my "own" patients.
I always wonder how and why I decided to become a nurse but in moments of watching a baby be born and being able to care for it, I know exactly why. I feel like this has been my calling forever. I am lucky I get to take care of people for my career.
I obviously can't take pictures while on the unit, but of course I need to send Jesse a random bathroom selfie every once in a while :)
I believe this was my… "I go into the locker room to squat for a second during my cramps…" picture. Haha. Who am I?
