Poppa Keiths' Surgery Day

After 18 months of planning, my dad finally had Gastric Bypass surgery on August 13th. He worked hard and researched all he could before making this big, scary decision. His diabetes was getting worse, requiring more insulin, and he decided to get rid of it forever. The day of his surgery, my mom went with him, and the rest of the family hung out all day together before going to visit him at LDS hospital.

We went to Nickle City and had soooo much fun! Who knew gross arcades could be so entertaining?! I think the adults loved it more than the kids did. We then all drove up to SLC to visit my dad in the hospital. He was all drugged up and out of it of course, but we were happy we got to see him. He was so cute, though. I was standing by him holding his hand and every once in a while he would reach up and brush my hair with his hand or put it on my cheek. It was so sweet. I felt like his little girl again. It was hard to see my dad in so much pain but we knew it was going to pay off!

We went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner afterwards, which ended up being not the best food we have ever had there. It must have been an off night. But anything is good with my family.

One month later, my dad has now lost over 50 pounds and hasn't had any insulin since the surgery! The doctor says he is nearly completely non-diabetic. It's crazy! I am so proud of my dad, though. He has perfectly stuck to the diet rules, has started exercising, and is making goals for what he wants to do in the future. We love you, Poppa Keith!! :)

This is my brother. Laying on the floor covered in tickets. He's the best human around.
Brent got the high score on this shooting game and he told me that there was no way I could get the second high score. But guess what? I proved him wrong! So we of course had to take a picture of our initials in first and second place :)
Oh, baby Luca was just the sleepiest thing ever!

When my dad came home he decided that this was the most comfortable way to sleep! Haha!
