We're Grown Ups: New Apartment
After much deliberation, we finally decided it was time to move out back into our own apartment! We have been sooooo lucky to live with our parents for the past while while I went to school and waited to have a steady job. We have loved living with my parents. Seriously. We were spoiled haha I don't think I made my own dinner the whole time we lived there... oops :) But, it was time to be on our own again before moving to Texas.
It was a quick apartment search. We were looking on KSL and everything, then we went and looked at two apartments. We took the second one on the spot! Close to campus, free google fiber wifi, and on the cheaper rent side. But also verrrrrry small. Hahah! It's a teeny one. A solid 500 square feet. How is it that four years later we have downgraded to a smaller apartment than our first one when we were married?! Ha, oh well. It's cozy and just perfect for what we need.
The day after Thanksgiving we started the moving process. It took the whole weekend to get fully settled in. Our kind family members helped us pack up our storage unit and move everything to the apartment (and up 3 flights of stairs:))!
It's been nice to be on our own (without the oh so adorable nieces and nephew running around:)) and to be alone again. It's been a while! It took some getting used to... and a few tears... just cause I got used to living with my cute parents and they took such good care of me and Jesse. I honestly miss being there all the time with everyone. It's hard for me to think I miss out on things... but it's good for us.
We are happy to both be closer to work and school! But it's sad being further (a whole 15 minutes) away from my family. We just won't be hanging out all the time like we did before. I can't imagine what it will be like to live in a different state!
Anywho, it's been fun! I love coming home to just my sweet Jesse. To our cozy little apartment. I love our little family.
A couple days before, my mom and the Winward's came to Ikea with me to pick out a dresser! It was quite the adventure. Joe was cracking me up! We were trapped in there... no cell service, pointless things you don't need everywhere you look, and no way out!! Hahaha. I got what I needed, and then we went to In-N-Out for lunch :)
On moving day we borrowed one of Chris and Kim's friends old trucks. It worked perfectly and we were so grateful!
I was trying to take a picture of how weirdly hot Jesse looked.. hahaha even in his sweat pants and all sweaty... but he just looked all sexy like.. but then when I tried to capture it in a picture he looked like he was squatting to poop... hahaha
Look what we found in the storage unit! Oh, wild Bill, oh how you're missed.
So many trips of my car packed full!
Setting up the bed was weirdly fun! We were just laughing so hard at the dumbest things. So funny.
After many long hours and multiple trips to target, we finally got everything all set up! In this baby sized apartment :)
There is not enough space for things... so we just have shoe racks laying out, it's fine.
Jess didn't like that I took a picture of the living room when he was playing xbox... Sorry, babe :)
We've still got to get a bookshelf for all the books just laying on the floor... and switch some pictures out and hang some stuff up...and buy an actual tv stand so all the cords don't hang out... But for now, it's good enough! Our little home :) We won't know what to do when we move into an actual house in Texas! It'll be so awesome!
The first night we were there we hadn't gone grocery shopping yet.. only stole some stuff from my moms. So, Jesse had eggs, a grilled cheese, and top ramen for dinner. Hahaha... are we going to survive?!
But then my sweet mom took me to Costco and bought me a few essentials :) And I went grocery shopping and we were set! I'm pretty sure I carried all these grocery bags in one trip up 3 flights of stairs, it's fine.
We eat in front of the TV a lot, I know. Who even needs a table?!
On Sunday we were still unpacking, Jesse's family came and said hi and saw the apartment! And then my family came a few days later. It was fun to see everyone after a stressful couple days. Love them all.
Luca even likes it :)
Plus... sweet notes after work = happy Lysha
