Jesse's Commissioning Ceremony and Graduation

On Jesse's last day of testing he sent me this picture saying "turning in my last test at BYU!"
On April 23rd Jesse officially commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. It was so special to witness! All of our families came to support, which meant a lot to both of us.  Something that was also so special was that Jesse's mission president, Richard Baldwin, who was a F-16 pilot, was able to travel here to be the person to commission him. Such a special thing for Jess! I loved seeing the excitement, pride, and overwhelming gratitude in Jesse's eyes while he stated the oath. Pa, Kim and I were the ones to pin Jesse with his new ranks and Grandad David did the first salute. It was such a special day for all of us! Afterwards they had some food and drinks to eat while we all visited. Jesse, President Baldwin, and I went to Olive Garden for lunch after. President had lots of wonderful advice and stories to tell Jess, along with a very kind letter.

Another thing I don't want to forget about the day was some of the things the guest speaker talked about. Kenneth L Alford gave the newly commissioned graduates 10 suggestions as they go through their career in the military.
  1. Ask questions
  2. Seek balance in your life - keep priorities straight: God, spouse, family, career
  3. Make the military a good experience for your entire family
  4. Be your own assignment manager - look at jobs down the line
  5. Set the example
  6. Be responsible - never pass the blame for an action
  7. Exercise righteous dominion
  8. Have personal slogans
  9. Enjoy the journey - and thank the Lord for the ride
  10. Live worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost

The next day, April 24th, was graduation from BYU with a degree in economics day! Jesse didn't want to walk in graduation at all, but his annoying wife made him hahaha me, my mom, Kim and Pa were there for the ceremony. Afterwards we went and got a delicious large greasy breakfast at Callie's cafe! That night we had a BBQ at Jesse's house with both our families - dinner, games, presents, dessert. It was a great way to celebrate all that Jess has accomplished in the last four years!
Here's a really high quality picture of him down there...
Thanks for feeding us Jillbo Baggins!
Jesse's little graduation gift basket from me :)
Jesse's first and only time wearing BYU apparel haha
I cannot even express how proud I am of my dear Jesse Ken! When he decided to start ROTC and compete for a pilot slot, it just lit a fire in him! He was able to accomplish so much as a cadet and ended the year with 6 4.0's in a row and a 3.8 cumulative GPA. All while being such a wonderful husband :) I love him oh so much! Good job and congratulations Jess!!! :)
