The Hospital Stay

We got switched to a postpartum room and got all settled in for the night. My mom and Karrissa went out to get a dinner, which was super nice of them! I was starving! We ate and visited with them for a while before they headed home. Jess and I relaxed, as much as we could with nurses coming in and out to check on me and baby, and waited for the aid to be available to give Lucy her bath. We both felt so exhausted at this point. Plus, who knew pushing a baby out of you would make you reeeeall sore down there? Imagine that! So, that was fun to deal with too. We finally gave her a bath, got her jammies on, and got ready for bed, hoping for some sleep. Well, turns out, babies make lots of noises at night which makes the mom not be able to sleep at all! She didn't sleep much, which means I didn't sleep, but it was fine. I just stared at her and held her. Lucy is an incredible eater though, so that's a blessing. She did great with her feedings that night. She peed all over the cute night gown we put her in.... so that was fun. Haha. Let's just say it was a long night. Jess got some sleep during the feedings and everything so that was good. I know babies shouldn't really sleep with you, but after a feeding she fell asleep on my chest and we just went with it. We both got one good three hour stretch out of that! Magical. Then, it was morning!

Knowing that my mom and sister were at home to help, and we would just be more comfortable at home, I told the nurse that if possible, we would like to go home today. They encourage new moms to stay an extra day to help with breastfeeding and everything, but Lucy was doing so well, I felt comfortable going home. So, luckily, the pediatrician said everything looked good with her and so we were free to go! Karrissa and my mom stopped by for a little bit to say hi in the morning! We spent the morning eating breakfast, watching going home information videos, signing paperwork, getting vitals done, doing Lucy's hearing test (which she passed! yay!), and her blood work.  I was able to shower, which felt wonderful, while Lucy slept with Jess and put some real clothes on. Even though I was still wearing a giant diaper haha! We packed up, and waited for my mom to come with our car to pick us up. While we got Lucy dressed and in her carseat, she was crying so much, and I got overwhelmed and was like... what are we doing going home?! I can't stand cause I'm nauseous and my crotch hurts like the dickens and blah blah blah... haha! But then she fell back asleep in her carseat and looked so cute and all was right again. Headed home with my husband and daughter!

Every second we spend with her we fall more and more in love. We just stare at her and kiss those cheeks of hers!
Lucy's first bath!
Wide awake after a night of no sleeping...crazy girl! I love her eyes being open, though!
Karrissa snapped some pics during their visit :)
Oh how we both love Addi girl!
After I showered, I came out to Jess and Lucy completely zonked out, and she was holding his hand. It was adorable. I had never seen a more perfect moment!
We didn't want to wake her up but it was time to go!
