Lucy's Blessing Day

Lucy was blessed on January 3rd, 2016 in our home ward in Orem. Jesse gave such a wonderful blessing, as I knew he would. Miss Lucy didn't make a peep...an answer to my prayers! ;) I am thankful for the priesthood and Jesse's ability to bless her. It was so special to bless our daughter in the ward we grew up in, with all of our families there. I was grateful I had the opportunity to bear my testimony in front of them all.

We had a little get-together after church with our family and friends. Yummy food, great people, and a cute baby to celebrate! It was great. We have been blessed with such wonderful people in our lives.

Lucy’s Blessing 3 Jan 2016

Father in Heaven, by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold, we take this infant in our arms and give her a name and a blessing. The name which we have chosen, by which she shall be known throughout her life is Lucy Marie Lanham.

Lucy, at this time we desire to give you a blessing as the Spirit may direct. Your mother and father love you dearly. You have been an absolute joy to have in our life and to raise over the last two months. We are so excited to continue raising you and humbled at the opportunity. And we bless you to always remember—throughout your life—just how much your parents love you. Even more important, Lucy, we bless you that you can remember just how much your Father in Heaven loves you. And that even at an early age you can develop a relationship with your Father in Heaven, seek to know him, and maintain a constant relationship with him throughout your life.

We bless you to understand throughout this life—which will pass quickly—that the purpose of life is to return to your Heavenly Father, whose presence you have only recently departed. We bless you to remember that it is only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that you will do this, and that you will develop a testimony of the Atonement. And that no matter what mistakes, or sins, or trials that you must go though, that you’ll know that Jesus Christ can lift you and help you through them.

Lucy we bless you with boldness; that as the world turns more and more against what is true and righteous, that you’ll have the courage to stand—to stand up for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We bless you with courage and strength to overcome the fiery darts of the adversary. That you will be strong and righteous. And most importantly, Lucy, we bless you with charity and kindness—that you will love others. Look to your mother as an example of selflessness and love.

Lucy you are loved by all those present. Your parents, cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents—and even great grandparents—who are here present today. We bless you to remember that. Live your life in such a way that someday your path may cross with that of a young man who shares a similar testimony of the gospel and that you’ll be able to bring forth your own posterity who are counting on you. Lucy we love you very much and bless you with these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Mumzy and Lucy :) Kim had such cute decorations and pictures for the luncheon!
