Atlantic Beach, NC: Days 1,2,3

After debating a whole lot, I decided to go on The Yanlandowham's bi-annual beach vacation to North Carolina! Why debate, you ask? Well, poor Jesse K wasn't going to be able to come... so sad! I was just a little bit worried traveling and being a single parent all week. But, I am so happy I decided go to! Well... I was happy once I finally arrived...getting there was a different story.

The first flight from WF to Dallas was fine, a tiny bit stressful. Lucy pooped as soon as we got to the gate, of course. Then she literally didn't stop moving the entire (30 minute) flight. I was like...if this is any indication of how the three hour flight is going to go...haha! I tried to remain positive. Got to Dallas, got to our gate, and waited. Slowly, over time, the departing time for our flight on the tv screen kept getting further and further away... At first it was just an hour, putting me landing after midnight. Then finally, after three hours, and walking back and forth in the stroller to keep Lucy entertained, we boarded the plane! Oh, finally, I thought! A few minutes after we were all seated the pilot told us there was a illuminated engine light and we would not be able to take this plane. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. It's like 9:45 pm at this point. Got off the plane, sat on the ground with my baby, shed a few tears, and waited for some sort of information. We were moved to a different gate, and told to wait. Another hour. Lucy had been doing so well, way better than me. She even got a little nap in. But once she threw a fit and hit her head on the floor, it was game over. We were both so totally done with this travel day. I truly was going to ask Jesse to drive the two hours to Dallas to come get me and take me home. I was almost out of diapers, I was exhausted, everyone was always watching me because I had the loud child they felt bad for. (okay, there were tons of nice people there waiting with me and were super helpful actually!). After waiting for the plane to arrive and find a crew, we boarded again. Luckily, the row next to me had no one in it and I was able to move seat, which was such a blessing. So was Lucy sprawled out on the seat sleeping the whole plane ride! :) We landed around 2 am in Raleigh, got to Roger's house and to by by 4:30 am. Whew! What a day! I told Jesse we should have said a better goodbye because I was going to live there now, never getting on another plane again! ;)
So sad to leave Jess to go on HIS family vacation!
We got this umbrella stroller to take instead of my giant one, and she just looked like such a big kid in it! Like she was waiting in line at Disneyland or something!
Ready for the day -- not knowing the hell to follow ;)
I guess it started with "losing" my ID for a minute...then getting randomly selected (AGAIN!) for a pat down.
Still hopeful for a good flight...
Slowly but surely things just went down hill.. I seriously went to the bathroom and changed Lucy's diaper so she would be fresh for the plane probably five times within the 5.5 hours at the Dallas airport. Each time I would come back to a new departure time on the screen...hahaha. It was the worst.
I'm sure I looked like a psychopath -- but I was exhausted and pretty sure I would never leave this airport.
Finally made it! Poor sleepy girl. She is so sweet.
DAY 1 -- after waking up, showering, and packing the van, we headed from Roger and Leighann's to Bonnie and Rogers to meet up with the rest of the fam. We said our hello's, had some breakfast, packed up the cars, and were on our way to the beach! Lucy and I drove with Pa, Kim, and Eliza. It was great. Minus the car's AC wasn't working and I was dripping sweat the whole time! We made our usual stop at Wendy's, of course. When we finally got to the houses we ran straight to the beach! Lucy wasn't so sure about the sand and water...but we were hopeful we could get her used to it! Everyone got all settled in their rooms, had pizza for dinner, then went to bed!
Babies!!
Lucy was a bit sweaty as well....this humidity brings out her curls!
She's realizing how fun this will be to have all the cousins and aunts and uncles around!
DAY 2 -- Started the first beach day off right with a morning walk and workout and delicious breakfast! Then it was off to the beach for the day! We quickly found out that Lucy DOES NOT like the sand! At all. She still had fun being in my arms the whole day watching everyone and taking naps. We celebrated Rachel's 30th birthday that night with a great dinner and party! :)
Biiiiiiiigggg stretch!
"umm....what is this water stuff, mom?"
Playing with the babies!

 Finding seashells with Mumzy
 Annnnnnd she's out!
Let's try this again, shall we?!
She was definitely a mama's girl the entire week...so trying to get her to let Grandaddy Roger hold her wasn't the greatest success...
 Cutest little cousins
Lunch time!
I love making new memories with my sweet daughter! :)
 Lyla is not impressed! ;)
 Party time!
 Laughing with Auntie Erin
Hahaha! Always spitting. It's her fave.
Lucy plays favorites with Uncle Jon...she LOVES him! :)
Her first time signing bird!
Brady and Marissa let me in as their second wife for the week ;)
 Bahaha!
This was before I heard her crying and went in to find her stuck between the bed and nightstand...ahhh!!!!
DAY 3 --- Another wonderful walk/run to start the day! We had a fun beach day, jumping over waves, making boomerang videos, and taking naps. Watched the boys play spikeball, had another good dinner, followed by a very funny round of truth or dare! :)
She's not sure about this place...
We just weren't doing so well at taking pictures today...haha!
All the girls minus Mia!
See those two top teeth coming in?! Yeah...poor girl!
