Surviving Charlie's First Week
It was quite the adjustment learning to take care of two children instead of one for me and Jesse. We had Mark and Stephanie there for one day then about five days on our own before my parents arrived. Jess and I were in survival mode! We traded sleeping times, taking care of Lucy, changing poopy diapers, etc. As hard as this week was, I think we made a good team!
For the most part this week Lucy didn't pay much attention to Charlie. Every now and then she'd stop to give him a hug or kiss but the biggest change for her was not being able to fully give her all my attention. For this first week I was unable to even pick her up, so that was really hard for the both of us. It hurt my heart not be the person she was used to me being. Change is hard, but necessary, of course. And this week was definitely a week of change!
I was super worried about having the same physical changes and pain that I experienced with Lucy but it was ten times easier this time around, so I was definitely grateful for that. It took Charlie a bit to figure the whole breastfeeding thing out, but slowly but surely we got it down.

Our night in the hospital was...not relaxing...to say the least. Baby boy likes to cry and whine, and not sleep when mommy wants to sleep ;) But we survived! Got all the paperwork turned in, got us both the okay to go, and headed home in the afternoon some time on the 8th.
Dork.
Lucy didn't really ever cry as a baby...so Charlie already starting his crying fits...I was like, "uh no, babies don't cry".
